Spinwell is recruiting for an Investigating Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE INVESTIGATING OFFICER
- To work as part of the Domestic Abuse Team (DAT) undertaking necessary enquiries including, but not limited to, statement taking, exhibit handling, witness and victim contact and undertaking prisoner processing through interview and initial file preparation and submission.
- To prepare court files in respect of early first hearings (expedited files) and early administrative hearings (remand files) and to prepare internal files in respect of those offenders suitable for caution, reprimand or final warning
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE INVESTIGATING OFFICER
- Proven experience in investigation matters and of conducting interviews to a high standard.
- A working knowledge of criminal law and of the criminal justice system.
- The ability to communicate professionally and with empathy, alert to the dangers of ‘blaming’ and inappropriate language and with a willingness to challenge such behaviour.
- The ability to operate a computer database system and/or the willingness to undertake training and become proficient in the use of Surrey Police systems.
- The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- A methodical approach to work.
- The ability to work effectively unsupervised and as part of a team.
- A full and valid driving licence for motor cars.
