Pay Rate to Intermediary: £500 per day

 

Spinwell is recruiting for a Senior School Improvement Manager for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT MANAGER  

  • Lead and manage school improvement within Learning, Skills and Education, ensuring all schools in the county are effective and delivering a high quality experience for all learners; challenge, intervene and monitor where schools are causing concern in order to improve outcomes for learners
  • Ensure appropriate governance arrangements (constitution) are in place, including where schools federate, in order that governing bodies are able to challenge and support the school leadership to bring about and secure improvement in standards.
  • Lead the design of appropriate school improvement strategies and monitor the impact/effectiveness of strategies on the outcomes for learners, brokering in support as required and ensuring a clear service focus on excellence, setting out clear and ambitious priorities for raising standards in all schools, in accordance with client strategy.
  • Champion the needs and rights of those who are vulnerable or with complex needs, ensuring the voices of children and young people are heard and responded to.

 

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE SENIOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT MANAGER             

  • Proven extensive and effective senior management experience in a school and/or LA
  • Proven substantial and effective teaching experience in at least one key stage, preferably two
  • Evidence of detailed phase specific knowledge and understanding of schools and their systems which enable one to function as a leader of learning as well as a leader of personnel
  • A range of curriculum, pedagogic and management responsibilities which demonstrate successful implementation and impact of local and national programmes and projects
  • Ability to undertake effective appraisals and set individual and team targets
  • Ability to undertake Headteacher performance management in schools and support governing bodies with performance management
  • Ability to demonstrate how
    • individual practice as well as team work and leadership has led to discernible improvements in outcomes and impact for children and young people
    • Expertise in the use of data to direct resources, evaluate impact and evidence good value for money
    • Ability to foster relationships within and between teams, agencies, stakeholders, partners and the wider community as well as within the County Council
    • Awareness and understanding of inter-school collaboration
    • Empathy with development of local responses to community need across children’s workforce sectors
  • Ability to manage a team effectively and to bring out the best in a team and in each member
  • Ability to implement new programmes and projects from inception to implementation and evaluation
  • Be able to work effectively with a range of colleagues, developing their skills and competencies
  • Use data to measure and forecast outcomes, managing resources accordingly i.e. understanding implications of data for staff deployment
  • Ability to establish, monitor, and control operational budgets.
  • Use standard Microsoft applications and other IT to a high standard in a variety of settings
  • Demonstrate and evidence good influencing, negotiating, advocacy skills including the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and partners
  • Be able to write in an evaluative style, to a consistent house style, for a variety of audiences and without confusion of content or key message
