Spinwell is recruiting for a Chief Product Owner for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHIEF PRODUCT OWNER
You will work as part of a Senior Management Team, where you will be Head of Product, the L5 Principal Systems Engineer will be Head of Technical (professional discipline including technical quality), and the L5 Senior Scrum Team Coach will be Head of Delivery (organising the day-to-day work and how we deliver). You will work very closely with counterparts in DE&S Gateway and Core to agree work and priorities, and with the EDP service delivery management team for the BIC who will undertake much of the fulfilment activity. You will also liaise with other modelling teams and authorities around Defence to maintain alignment of approaches and standards. You will direct the Product Owners of the individual teams in the BIC (who will each report to you), and you will run the bi-weekly Meta-Scrum which is how we coordinate and prioritise work using the Scrum at Scale methodology.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE CHIEF PRODUCT OWNER
- Respected engineer who earns trust quickly (up, down and across)
- Highly effective communicator: articulate, rational, collaborative & consultative, and very effective at making clearly explained & timely decisions
- Significant experience of directly managing customer stakeholders, preferably up to 2* level.
- Significant experience of engineering activities through pre-Concept, Concept and Assessment phases across Cat A-C projects and across multiple operating domains.
- Experience of the practical aspects of integration & interoperability in context of multiple operating domains – credible lived experience of what matters.
- Good awareness of the acquisition approvals process and the improvements being made to increase speed and agility of delivery.
- Experience of responsibility for the delivery of work across a team of teams within the performance/cost/time envelope
- Experience of leading & developing teams
- Experience of managing supplier performance
- Strong servant leader behaviours – not behaving like a boss
