If so, we are looking for an experienced Associate Director to join and help lead their client’s structural engineering team in Hemel Hempstead. You will be joining a team of like-minded experts that have a passion for delivering excellent client service and continuously seek innovative ways to enhance their projects and services.
Job Description:
You will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the successful technical and commercial execution of projects and managing personnel and resources. As Associate Director you will be a people-orientated and capable manager and
- communicator, able to develop strong relationships with colleagues, clients and fellow professionals.
- You will coordinate and contribute to work winning and to business development activities, actively developing and maintaining relationships with existing and new clients and stakeholders.
- You will be required to assist with the production of proposals for new projects and manage commercial performance of projects.
- You will play a key role in defining and influencing the company culture.
- You will set the tone for communication and collaboration within the team, helping to foster good levels of employee engagement, and increasing productivity and efficiency in a positive and supportive environment.
You will need to be from an engineering consultancy background with the ability to:
- Prepare technical outputs to the highest standards in accordance with the client’s ISO9001 quality management system.
- Provide direction and technical advice to more junior project team members, taking a proactive role in developing team members to their full potential.
- Develop effective teamwork within both the client and as part of a wider design team of other key stakeholders.
- Manage the delivery of multi-disciplinary schemes (civil, structural, geo-environmental) as well as deliver all technical structural engineering services, in both cases demonstrating strong communication and client management skills.
- Negotiate technical approvals and similar agreements.
- Responsible for the financial performance of projects, maximising efficiency and contributing to the delivery of the client’s commercial aims
- Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities, contributing to the preparation of technical and financial proposals and bids.
Qualifications & Experience
- Batchelor’s or Master’s degree qualification (or equivalent experience) in Civil Engineering
- Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (CEng IStructE) or equivalent
- Significant experience within engineering consultancy or other relevant business
- Design experience in a range of structural engineering projects, with a focus on the residential sector
- Experience of structural surveys and investigation, with heritage experience being desirable
- Your skills profile will include excellent leadership qualities and a strong track record of managing technical teams
- Client focused approach to service delivery
