Role: Weapons Integration Engineer

Contracting authority: Central Government

Contract: until March 2026

Location: Bristol, 2 days a week on site

IR35: Inside

Rate to intermediary: Market Rate

Clearance: SC requested

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the engineering aspects for the aircraft for integration of the weapon system, including managing the acquisition safety aspects.

Provide expert advice and guidance in own technical area to solve complex technical problems and identify application risks.

Monitor and implement governance and assurance, policies and procedures to ensure the ‘safe & professional’ status of the area led.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE 

Lead on the development of requirements related to own area of specialism including acceptance plans, performance criteria and draft specifications.

Interface with industry and ATEC (as UK trials lead) in a scrutiny role and supporting the identification of application risk through the procurement and integration of the weapon system.

 

Manage technical system integration and analyse evidence provided for weapon integration assurance (including any software management).

Ensure that own Airworthiness Information Management practices are in line with document retention and records requirement. Identify and brief equipment safety risks in areas of responsibility at all stages of the project.

Identify where evidence shortfall may require special clearances in the Release to Service Ensure that weapon system meets the requirements needed by the customer from within area of engineering responsibility.

  • 1Essential Experience/Skills Requirement
  • Aviation Engineering (preference for UAS but general aviation acceptable).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of air system weapon integration and knowledge of UK weapon system approval processes.
  • Able to travel within the UK.
  • Security Classification to SC.
  • 2Desired Experience/Skills Requirement
  • Previous experience in an Aviation Delivery Team (MOD) and use of the AET toolkit.
  • Demonstration of knowledge and/or qualification in Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
