Spinwell Global is proud to partner with one of the UAE’s foremost property developers, with over 280,000 square metres of land under development in Abu Dhabi. With four major projects already underway and successfully managed, the company continues to expand and is now seeking an accomplished Commercial Contracts Director to lead its in-house commercial team.
Role Overview:
The Commercial Contracts Director will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the organisation’s contractual and commercial interests at a group level. You will lead and guide appointed external consultants, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of Quantity Surveying and Contract Administration functions. This leadership role demands close collaboration with internal departments as well as external stakeholders including clients, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the contractual and commercial interests of the organisation are secured across all projects and operations.
- Lead and guide external consultancy teams in Quantity Surveying and Contract Administration disciplines.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments and external project stakeholders.
- Oversee all contractual and commercial functions from the drafting of Requests for Proposal (RFPs) through to tender awards, project delivery, and final account closure.
- Uphold best practices in commercial management to contribute to the goodwill, profitability, and positive cash flow of the company.
- Lead negotiations, manage risk, and resolve contractual disputes.
- Draft, audit, and manage high-quality contract documentation and correspondence.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 20 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, Contract Administration, and Commercial Management within the construction/property sector.
- Demonstrated ability to lead commercial functions across multiple large-scale developments.
- Expertise in project management, civil engineering construction, and the administration of contract procedures.
- Deep understanding of current industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, people management, and communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS or equivalent) is mandatory.
- Extensive hands-on experience managing contracts and commercial matters across contractors, consultants, and developers.
- Strong working knowledge of the FIDIC suite of contract conditions and associated dispute resolution procedures.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, with the ability to draft and audit contractual documents and correspondence to a high professional standard.
